Facebook Live Ups The Anti With Two Person Interview Style Broadcasts and Waiting Rooms!

IMG_1624 Wow! Facebook Live is pushing hard to disrupt Periscope and main stream television and news cable networks! Since launching their video live streaming service, they have had great success being featured in several hot button news stories along with their existing user base gobbling up the new feature!

In an effort to dominate the online social media space, both personally and professionally, Facebook has been impressive as they have diversified their product offering and really utilized their 1 billion plus users.

Some of the ways businesses are making use of Facebook Live are:

1. Behind the scenes sneak peeks
2. Customer Q & A mixed with frequently asked questions
3. Product reviews
4. How to segments
5. Employee spotlights

With instant access to people’s lives and everyday experiences, Facebook Live has taken full advantage of people’s desire to see through their friends eyes or smartphone camera! Offering live maps to see all the live broadcasts from around the world literally grants people an un-edited and raw unique experience.

I think this new update by Facebook just solidifies where we are headed. Everyone who has a smart phone literally is their own media.

What do you think about the new update?

Finding Your Following: Social Media Strategies That Work | Edmonton Journal Capital Ideas Feature Article

EJ-event-page-March-3-2016

In the world of clicks, tweets, snaps, facebook posts and just about every other digital and social media platform, stands the business owner wondering which goliath they should tackle first? I was invited to be a speaker on a panel by The Edmonton Journal Capital Ideas team a few weeks back and it was awesome! A room full of small business owners in Edmonton combine to ask some of the best questions regarding effective use of social media.

Here are a few of my favourite questions from the session:

1. How do you cope when your business grows too fast?
2. How do you juggle social media and family/life balance?
3. Should you be scheduling posts and what social media platforms should you use?
4. When dealing within the insurance health fields, how do you form a social media strategy that is still fun amidst all the red tape and governance?
5. How often should you post?
6. Should you be on all platforms?

With social media, I will say it time and time again. It is all about people! Scheduling posts and trying to use social media management tools to distribute content into the world through the various different platforms is a slippery slope because you are dealing with REAL people. I suggest learning and using each platform for the same reasons it’s user base does. Your job as a business owner is to create or curate content that wraps around the platform and speaks to the user.

Here are 7 tips for being successful in social media playing the LONG game:

1. Decide whether you are a DJ or Producer, meaning great dj’s will remix already made music and producer will create something from scratch. Do you create or curate?
2. Create a chart that summarizes each platform so you can repurpose your content based on each social network’s requirement.
3. Create a game plan if you have scheduled content in the event of a disaster
4. Pick two social platforms and make love to them in every way possible so you can get the full advantage of why they are unique and tailor your content to them
5. Figure out what your “why” is and what your “story” is?
6. HAVE FUN
7. Have self awareness

Instagram For Automotive Dealers?! Yes, That Is Right. If Your Dealership Is Not On Instagram, Get On It!!!!!

instagram

So, with over 200 MILLION monthly active users, how can your auto dealership afford not to be on Instagram? Remember when we were all in grade school how are teachers use to get us to read and write these LLLOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGGGG paragraphs and then when it came to test time we would forget? Nothing has changed! As humans our brains are working with serotonin and dopamine which evoke emotion into our brains. We all have short attention spans and therefore love to take and absorb information quickly! Pictures, Pictures and more pictures! The old adage is a picture is worth a thousand words, well in today’s noisy world of advertising, a picture just might be worth a million words!

Professor Scott Galloway from The University of New York justifies why Instagram is THE social networking website to be on. It had 15 times the engagement of Facebook and 25 times the engagement of Twitter according to numerous and extensive studies done. Check out the first four minutes of Scott giving a speech explaining marketing and the psychology of the human brain.

Here are some tips for a automotive car dealer testing the waters and starting a Instagram account:

  • Post regularly
  • Be creative with the images you post
  • Tell a story through the image
  • “Like” and “Comment” on other people’s images
  • Use what you have in the dealership
  • Involve staff
  • Monitor your account daily
  • Create a awesome BIO and Instagram handle
  • DO NOT post images that you would not find interesting
  • Well , as always, have fun with your account and remember that you are posting images to ultimately engage with your potential car buying customers.
